JOB SUMMARY: The Operations Manager is an Executive support position for the Cowessess First Nation Chief & Council. He or She will be supervised by the Chief of the Cowessess First Nation; Responsible for the overall management and supervision of personnel, and monitoring of the finances, administration and coordination of all programs and services managed by the Cowessess First Nation; Specifically the coordination of and compliance with all policies administered by the Council of the Cowessess First Nation No. #73. He/she will provide assistance to Chief and Council and Program Managers' relationships/negotiations between government and FSIN and INAC, Health Canada, private agencies and individuals.
QUALIFICATIONS:
A Post Secondary degree or diploma in Administration is preferred or a diploma from a recognized technical institute but will consider an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Should have a minimum of (5) years of proven managerial and supervisory experience and administrative background.
Must have excellent overall communication skills both in writing and orally.
Must possess effective organization skills with competence in computer software applications.
Must possess an understanding of all essential aspects of procurement; and knowledge of First Nations protocol.
Knowledge of management principles. This includes communication principles, financial control, accounting, personnel and adequate filing systems.
Applies knowledge of all Provincial and Federal Government programs and policies that affect Cowessess programs and policies.
Must be able to work under pressure and possess excellent time-management skills;
Must possess the ability to take direction and work with minimum supervision.
Must possess a reliable vehicle and valid driver's license; be willing and able to travel.
