MLTC is seeking an energetic motivated individual to fill a one (1) year maternity leave backfill term position as the Director of Justice.
The Director of Justice manages and oversees the overall MLTC justice initiatives as a secondary level service provider. The Director will work to provide restorative and community based justice services for the nine (9) MLFN?s and manage the day to day coordination and operation of all aspects of the MLTC Justice Project. The Director will provide advice and direction to the Justice Coordinators on the development and implementation of community justice structures, plans and services; and works to serve as a liaison with the FSIN Indian Justice Council, the Federal and Provincial governments and other Justice Sector officials.
Required Education, Knowledge, Qualifications and Experience:
? Degree in Human Justice, Human Services and/or related Justice Program experience.
? Preference will be given to candidates with relevant post-secondary training, but applicants with relevant combination of training and work experience will also be considered.
? A minimum of three years of management experience preferably in a First Nations organization; experience and/or training in management (i.e. supervision, work plans and program budgets).
? Mediation Trainer Certificate is considered a definite asset.
? Previous knowledge and work experience in the implementation of Alternative Measures and / or First Nation Offender Programming.
? Comprehensive understanding of how the Canadian Justice System operates.
? Knowledge of relevant legislation such as The Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA), The Criminal Code of Canada, The Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms and so forth.
