Sun West School Division invites applications for a 0.6 F.T.E. Permanent Occupational Therapist on the Student Services team, starting as soon as possible.The successful applicant will be responsible to the Superintendent of Education (Student Services) and will work with a multidisciplinary team to provide occupational therapy services to students in the Outlook and area schools with the possibility of additional schools in the North or Central region of the school division.
Areas of responsibilities include:
Assessing students within their educational setting to determine their needs.
Providing purposeful, goal-directed activities to improve student function within the educational environment in the following areas: postural stability, fine motor skills, visual perception and integration, activities of daily living, motor planning, coordination, sensory processing, self-help activities, social and play abilities, environmental adaptations, and use of assistive devices
Providing support for student support and classroom teachers, parents, and educational assistants in program delivery.
Providing limited direct service to individuals, small groups, or whole classrooms as deemed appropriate.
Working with the Student Services team to provide in-service opportunities and professional development for staff.
The successful applicant will possess a Master's Degree or Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Therapy. Preference will be given to applicants with experience working in school-based settings.
