Description

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Aboriginal Program Coordinator will liaise primarily with the Program Manager. The Coordinator is responsible for all aspects of the development and coordination of SWGs Aboriginal programs and services in Saskatchewan and to provide leadership in cultural awareness protocols to the membership and community-at-large.

The successful applicant will liaise with Aboriginal writers, network with First Nation and Mtis communities, establish and maintain productive partnerships with stakeholders, funders and other relevant organizations, provide project support as necessary, seek funding, write grant applications and reports, and maintain databases of relevant information. Knowledge of Aboriginal literature, publishing and of the literary arts scene in the Aboriginal community in Saskatchewan is a must. Awareness of First Nations & Mtis cultures and languages is a definite asset, as is someone who has experience in program design, delivery and evaluation.

This position will appeal to an energetic self-starter with excellent outgoing interpersonal, time management and organizational skills. Of prime importance is the knowledge and connections in the Aboriginal community,  the ability to take initiative, multi-task, to be a team worker, and be resourceful. Access to a vehicle is of prime importance, as is the ability to plan, prioritize, budget and meet deadlines. Knowledge of marketing and public relations is beneficial for success in this position.
