Description

We have a career position as a full-time legal assistant for an individual who has a strong work ethic and can work both independently or in a team atmosphere.  Applicant needs to excel under stress and be able to multi-task.  Training is available to any outstanding candidate who does not have prior legal experience, but has the initiative to work hard on developing legal skills.

*Successful completion of Grade 12 plus a recognized secretarial certificate/diploma or equivalent combination of relevant education, training and experience
* A minimum of two - three years experience performing administrative and clerical work
* Intermediate level training in the use of common software packages (Windows XP, Office 2003 Suite - Word 2003, Excel 2003, Access 2003, Outlook 2003, Adobe Acrobat, and PCLaw
* Accounting skills (time entry, preparation of invoices, receipts, cheques)
* Enter data into department database
* Excellent organizational and communication skills essential (written and oral) including knowledge of proper sentence structure and excellent spelling skills
* Ability to maintain high level of confidentiality is critical
* Transcribe letters, documents and other material from digital dictation, verbal instructions or precedents
* Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently, including operating under deadlines
* Ability to take initiative and have a proactive approach to the support role in a busy law office
* 55 wpm or greater keyboarding is imperative
