Description

The Attendant is responsible for performing all general duties to ensure that the local SCN receiving site is operational during designated course times which occur outside of regular day-time office hours.  The Attendant is to make students, tutors and proctors feel welcome in the College building and/or SCN receiving facility.

The hours of work are defined by the schedule of the SCN/sending instructions formal program requirements, and are in conjunction with the requirements of the College. Maximum claimable hours will include 15 minutes prior to and 15 minutes past broadcasting times.  Hours will typically be scheduled for Fridays and Saturdays.

Duties
Ensure that the facility is open and ready for use sufficiently ahead of time to ensure that the SCN equipment is operating and to troubleshoot equipment connections and settings if required.
Ensure the equipment is operating correctly for the entire event. The SCN Attendant is expected to remain on site during all assigned work hours unless alternate arrangements have been approved by the SCN Attendants supervisor in advance.
Demonstrate the proper use of SCN receiving site equipment to students as needed to facilitate appropriate class usage of telephones, volume controls, record and stop functions, etc.
Invigilate examinations for students as required.
Maintain courteous and helpful relationships with students, tutors, proctors and co-workers.
Perform other related duties as assigned by the direct supervisor.

Education and Experience
Minimum Grade 12 or academic equivalent.
One year experience operating communications equipment is an asset.
