STRONG stands for Strengthening the Relationships Of Newcomer Generations and is a family program focused on addressing many of the issues facing teenage (13-18 yrs) newcomers and their newcomer parents who struggle to meet each others expectations while attempting to integrate into Canadian culture.
Requirements for the Coordinator position include:
(a) University degree preferably in the area of youth, humanities, psychology, sociology or other related degrees
(b) Extensive knowledge of and appreciation for contemporary issues related to all aspects of newcomer immigrant youth and newcomer parents, and of the barriers they face in the settlement process
(c) A clean CPIC.
Responsibilities will include:
1. Recruitment and selection of participants
2. Development the STRONG curriculum
3. Development and delivery of culturally appropriate behaviors and other workshops, and coordination of special guests and project activities (such as educational trips), as is consistent with the project objectives and participant needs
4. Responding to the personal barriers e.g. literacy, numeracy, familial and mental health, which may be holding participants back in their development in the class
5. Establish and maintain a respectful and professional relationship with participants
6.Identify, establish, and maintain relationships with stakeholders and strengthen the collaboration
7. Strict and effective adherence to the project budget
8. Program evaluation, reporting & follow-up with participants after programs end

Weekly Working Hours: 20 hours per week (5hours reserved for Saturday sessions, the rest are flexible)
Wage: $21 per hour
