We are seeking support workers who will assist families who have a son or daughter with a cognitive disability or acquired brain injury. Working with the family, the support worker will be responsible to address the personal support needs, interests and choices of the youth to help facilitate participation in recreational and leisure activities after school, during the summer and on school holidays.
Specifically we are seeking people who may be available for after school support starting as early as 1:00pm on weekdays.
Working as part of a team and reporting to the family, the successful candidate will have:
Minimum of 1 year post-secondary training in the human service field. Preference will be given to individuals who have worked with youth with intellectual and/or multiple disabilities.
Understanding of the principles of inclusion, collaboration, supported decision making, person centered planning and an ability to enact these principles in daily work.
Effective interpersonal and communication skills
Flexible work schedule
Ability to make decisions independently and work with minimal supervision
First Aid/CPR certificate is an asset
Valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle
Willingness to travel in Saskatoon and the surrounding area (Martensville, Warman, Dalmeny, etc)
Criminal Records Check including vulnerable sector search
The role of our organization is to develop a list of capable, trustworthy support workers to be contracted by families on a self-employed basis.
The work is part time and usually after school, evenings and weekends, and daytime during the summer. The number of hours available will vary, depending on the needs of the individuals being supported. Please note that Radius cannot guarantee that all candidates who are placed on the list will receive contracts as this is dependent on the demand in the community.
