Reporting to the Town Administrator, the Superintendent Public Works is a senior position working with minimal supervision and is responsible to:
Accomplish department objectives and goals within guidelines established by the Council and the Town Administrator;
Supervise, organize, coordinate, control and execute all functions of the Public Works and Water Treatment Plant Departments annual work programs;
Operate within approved policies, programs and budgets of Town Council, Municipal Bylaws and Government Legislation;
Plan, direct, organize coordinate, oversee and manage the maintenance and repair operations for streets, equipment, landfills, building and grounds maintenance, water and sewer collection and treatment systems;
Prioritize, plan, organize and supervise public works projects;
Plan, organize, direct and evaluate the performance of assigned employees and ensure training of all Public Works employees;
Respond to public inquiries, investigate and resolve complaints or refer to appropriate department;
Participate as part of the senior management team;
Acts as liaison and report to the Town Administrator and Public Works Committee/Council on status of public works department through submission of monthly reports and attending all required meetings;
Perform other related duties and projects as assigned.
