The Manager of Workplace Health, Safety and Wellness will provide leadership and strategic direction and be responsible for providing comprehensive safety, health and wellness programs. The Manager will lead specialized teams in health and safety, disability management, wellness and workplace accommodation.
Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic advice and direction
- Deliver advice and guidance to management on matters relating to Occupational Health and Safety, Workplace Accommodation, Disability Management, and related employee supports.
- Develop and implement programs and services to reduce WSIB costs and short term and long term absence costs.
- Accountable for planning, developing, implementing and evaluating programs in a manner that adheres to all applicable legislation, Ministry guidelines and protocols and best practices.
- Develop budget projections for the Workplace Health and Safety budget, WSIB Reserve Fund.
- Provide consultation and advice during a major incident or emergency in the Citys as it pertains to Workplace Health and Safety.
- Represent the City of Lloydminster at WSIB appeals, Workplace Safety and Insurance Appeals, Tribunal hearings, discoveries, mediations, trials and other judicial or quasi-judicial proceedings in a professional manner
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Successful completion of a University Degree in Occupational Health & Safety or in a related field/discipline, or approved equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Industry recognized certification or designation (e.g. Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) designation or certified in Safety Engineering).
- A minimum of seven (7) years progressive leadership experience within Health and Safety and Disability Management. Experience in a unionized environment is preferred.
- A minimum of 3 years strategic leadership development.
