Description

You will be responsible for supervising, coordinating and scheduling activities of mill employees, while ensuring that systems and equipment are operating efficiently. You will also be responsible for all functions related to the productive, safe flow of logs and lumber throughout the mill.

Key Responsibilities include:

    Ensuring all direct reports are fully trained and competent to perform their assigned duties in accordance with the companys safety requirements.
    Maintaining the highest standards with respect to safety at all times, leading by example and ensuring employees follow all policies, procedures, practices and regulations.
    Supervision and scheduling of hourly mill employees including shift schedules, hours of work, overtime and vacation approvals, in accordance with the Collective Agreement.
    Engaging production employees to achieve targets, meet expectations and address deficiencies in a productive and professional manner.
    Providing direction and support for operating and production personnel while fostering a highly effective working relationship with all employees.
    Identifying development opportunities for high potential personnel.
    Managing and identifying opportunities to improve productivity, reduce cost, and maximize the quality, value, and recovery of lumber produced.
    Ensuring full compliance with applicable OH&S regulations and corporate policies.

   Qualifications

    Grade 12 diploma, or equivalent
    Post-secondary education in a related field is considered an asset
    Five to eight years of sawmill related experience is preferred
    Previous supervisory experience is an asset
    Knowledge and experience within lumber manufacturing and sawmill operations
