Description

The City of North Battleford is seeking a Financial Accountant. This position reports directly to the Finance Director and requires the successful applicant to perform a wide variety of general accounting/finance support tasks.

MAIN DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES
-    Treasury record management of City debt and related Bank reconciliations
-    Review Journal Vouchers, Interdepartmental billings, Stock requisitions
-    General ledger maintenance including setup of vendors in Accounting Software
-    Monthly reporting of Departmental Revenue and Expenditures to dept. heads
-    Ensure compliance reporting of major funding and expenditure contracts.
-    Ensure compliance  reporting of GST, PST, Statistics, etc.
-    Assisting with preparation of Annual Financial Report and Public Accounts
-    Assisting with Budgeting, Quarterly reporting and year end audit as required
-    Ad hoc financial analysis and other finance/accounting duties as required.

EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE / SKILLS

-    University degree or college diploma in Accounting, Finance, Business or similar.
-    Attainment or enrollment in a recognized accounting program would be a definite asset but not mandatory
-    Must have at least 5 years of accounting experience at a similar level of responsibility. Candidates from professional accounting firms are also invited to apply
-    Must have excellent working knowledge of Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
-    Must have Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and keen attention to detail. Ability to problem-solve, self-direct and self-initiate. Excellent time management and ability to work independently or as part of a collaborative team
