Part-time childcare staff needed for children of adult students participating in a LINC class at Vincent Massey School, 5:30-8:30pm, Tuesdays and Thursdays. Duties include implementing activities that support a child-centred approach and promote the development of newcomer children; checking childrens attendance and maintaining relevant records; and attending meetings as directed by the manager.
QUALIFICATIONS
At least a two-year diploma in a child development program or a related field from an academic institution
Two years experience working in the child care field
If English is not the first language, at least a CLB 5 for Speaking and Listening and a 4 for Reading and Writing
Understanding and awareness of settlement issues and the concerns of newcomer children and parents
Current First Aid and CPR certification
Criminal and Child Abuse Registry check
Professional certification and managerial experience are assets, but not required
Credentials (certificates, licences, memberships, courses, etc.)
- First Aid Certificate
- Early Childhood Education Diploma or Degree
Early Childhood Education Skills
- Provide supervision and guidance of daily activities, field trips and special activities
Early Childhood Educator Assistant Skills
- Prepare craft materials and assist children to use them
- Conduct and monitor activity programs designed for young children
Security and Safety
- Criminal record check (abstract)
- Child abuse registry check
- Immunization records
