Program Assistant, Adult Basic Education
Competition # SSA-0086

The SIIT Adult Basic Education (ABE) Department provides training throughout Saskatchewan including First Nation communities. The Program Assistant will be based out of Saskatoon and will be responsible for supporting the work of the ABE Department.

Duties:
Set up and maintain a filing system for the ABE Department.
Provide information regarding ABE Programming.
Monitor, order, and maintain office and program supplies.
Communicate with other organizations and First Nations.
Prepare mail-outs; assemble information, photocopy, and fax.
Prepare monthly reports, documents, and class lists.
Book meeting facilities, hotel rooms and rentals and ensure purchase orders are sent out.
Prepare minutes and meeting summaries.
Accepting staff expenses and attendance forms for signature, filing and distributing.
Maintain knowledge of SIIT programs.
Other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
Complete Grade 12 plus a recognized secretarial certificate/diploma or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Basic understanding of Saskatchewan Education as well as experience working in a Post-Secondary setting would be an asset.  
Strong working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook).
Excellent oral and written skills, excellent interpersonal skills.
Knowledge of common office procedures.
Proven ability to organize, prioritize and handle multiple tasks with attention to detail and accuracy.
Demonstrated experience in developing informational materials.
Ability to work independently under generalized supervision.
Demonstrated ability to deal with situations with discretion and confidentiality.
