Description

The YMCA of Moose Jaw is currently taking applications for the position of In School Youth Outreach Worker. This person will report directly to Jenn Angus, Manager of Funds Development, Community Outreach & Strategy.

This position provides support primarily to students in the School Aged Parent Program, and also to other students as referred by the school or community organizations. In addition to on-site Childcare, the Moose Jaw Family YMCA provides an Outreach Worker that assists students on issues that interfere with their full participation, success in school, and graduation. These barriers to success can include, but are not limited to: Social Services or financial supports; housing; budgeting; transportation; medical appointments; mental health and addictions; etc. The Outreach Worker is able to act in a mentoring role and be available to students both in the school environment and in the community when needed.

Qualifications:
- At least 2 years post-secondary education in a Human Service Field
- At least 2 years successful experience in a related field
- Strong knowledge of community resources
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Proven leadership qualities
- Enthusiastic, energetic and have an outgoing personality
- Experience in working with those with addictions and/or mental health
- Good communication and organizational skills
- Basic computer skills
- Ability to work flexible hours
- Access to a vehicle and ability to travel
- Clear Criminal Record Check, Child Abuse Check, First Aid/CPR, and Drivers License Clearance
