The Day or Night attendant will work to support individuals who have been involved in a high risk lifestyle, with the philosophy of building on strengths and supporting challenges. This will require providing one on one support as well as working with various professionals and support agencies to coordinate meeting the daily living, health, financial and social needs of individuals struggling with addictions.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
-Provide non-judgemental crisis counselling and ongoing support, advocacy to residents of McLeod House.
-Assess needs of residents and maintain effective communication with relevant staff.
-Identify, monitor and respond to behaviours to ensure safety and a comfortable environment for residents.
-To be prepared to assess and respond to critical issues such as suicide, and mental health issues, depression, etc.
-Provide emergency measures plan, in case of fire, floods, and break and enters.
-Be knowledgeable of and enforce the policies of CUMFI and McLeod House.
-Strong knowledge of Mtis and First Nations Cultures.
-Able and willing to work various shifts.
-Volunteer for CUMFI events.
-Monitor cameras frequently and report any unusual observations to proper authorities or in an incident report.
-Conduct curfew checks.
-Office cleaning duties as required.
Qualifications:
- Certificate or Diploma in Community Addiction with 2 years of experience in related field
- Must be alcohol/drug free for minimum of 2 years
- Standard First Aid
- Valid Driver's license and reliable vehicle
