Education: Completion of high school, Completion of college/CEGEP/vocational or technical training in architectural drafting or civil drafting
5 or more years of design experience in the wood construction industry. Develop and prepare design sketches, complete documentation packages and drawing sets, examine drawings for conformity and errors
Advanced abilities in the following:
-knowledge in the application of building components and connections of floor and roof systems and application of floor (i-joist and LVL), roof and floor (truss) systems and tall walls
understanding of residential and commercial construction
blueprint reading skills
knowledge of mitek and keyman.
knowledge of rough framing and the construction process
understanding of Manufacturing and Logistics Operations
Command of local and national building codes, structural analysis and structural engineering, with the ability to communicate and enforce adherence
Strong problem solving skills to resolve incomplete, ambiguous project requirements, errors or omissions within blueprints
Able to work in a fast-paced environment, Work under pressure, Tight deadlines, Attention to detail
Ability to read, analyze and interpret general mechanical and technical procedures in English.
