Description

The City of Swift Current is seeking an individual for the permanent full-time position of Payroll Supervisor. Reporting to the General Manager of Corporate Services you will be responsible for the complete preparation and processing of the bi-weekly payroll and on an annual basis for year-end processes including reconciliations and T4/T4A preparation. Other duties to name a few include the collection, verification and processing of payroll data, calculation of taxes and statutory requirements, group benefit and pension plans deductions, and benefits administration.

Basic Requirements:
. Completion of Grade 12 plus 1 year of post- secondary education in Accounting or a combination of experience and completion of relevant Municipal Government training;
. Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs;
. Must possess and maintain a valid Class 5 Saskatchewan Driverss License;
. Must be willing to obtain a Criminal Record Check;
. Knowledge of payroll and benefit requirements and legislation (accounting, provincial and federal);
. Must possess excellent problem-solving, organizational, customer service public relations, written and oral communication skills;
. Ability to work independently, be resourceful, and work under pressure to process a high volume of information and meet repeated payroll and benefit related deadlines;
. Must possess excellent mathematical skills, be accurate with figures and extremely detail oriented; and
. Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and a high degree of diplomacy;

Desirable Requirements:
. Preference will be given to candidates with post-secondary education in the areas of Commerce, Business Administration, or Municipal Government and/or combination of experience and completion of Canadian Payroll Association training;
. Previous experience with a municipality or government agency; and  
. Working knowledge in a financial/accounting software (i.e. JD Edwards World Vision Software).
