-Promoting awareness of relevant Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) policies in a way that is supportive/constructive with site operations;
-Ensuring project sites and equipment satisfy Occupational HSE standards with all relevant authorities concerning compliance, audits and protocols;
-Investigating safety incidents and follow up with disciplinary/corrective action when required;
-Employee drug testing as per HSE and client policies;
-Implementing company HSE policies and procedures, and where required assisting in the preparation of new HSE policies and procedures;
-Ensuring all site staff receive appropriate HSE orientation and training;
-Assisting with Workers Compensation Board (WCB) reporting and follow up administration;
-Conducting daily toolbox meetings and regular jobsite/premises inspections;
-Undertaking risk assessment/safety analysis and following up with mitigation measures;
-Reviewing and inspecting heavy earthmoving operations and works under construction to ensure safe and healthy working conditions are maintained;
-Ability to communicate effectively and liaising between site operators/supervisors/clerks and head office in all HSE matters; and
-Encouraging and promoting a positive safety culture by tracking and rewarding good safety performance.
