The Residential Renovation and Construction Instructor will provide practical and theoretical instruction related to the building construction program. Areas of instruction include, but are not limited to: planning, developing and delivering the program, maintaining carpentry tools, evaluating student?s performance, providing guidance, conducting workshops, demonstrations and liaise with community organizations.
A grade twelve, an Interprovincial Red Seal ticket with two years of recent/relevant post journeyperson experience as a carpenter. A combination of related education and experience may be considered. The successful applicant must be able to teach trades math at a grade 10 level, must be able to repeatedly bend or stoop to ground level shelves and be able to reach upper shelves (8 to 20 feet) with use of stool or ladder and must be capable of lifting and moving packages up to 50lbs on a consistent basis. Experience in cross-cultural adult education, workshop facilitation, as well as good interpersonal skills, good instructional skills and strong written and verbal communication are definite assets.
