The main objective of the individual in this position is to maintain the arena, equipment, ice surface and perform a variety of maintenance, repairs and janitorial tasks. The staff member in this position will directly report to the Director of Hockey Development.This is a seasonal full-time shift position - 3 days, 3 evenings, 3 off. Preference will be given to individuals who possess a Refrigeration Certificate and/or Arena Operator course Level 1 and 2.
Essential responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
1. Provide quality and consistent ice surface as per established methods.
2. Implement established preventative maintenance practices for all arena operating systems.
3. Complete maintenance log books and other reporting systems.
4. Monitor and do minor maintenance on refrigeration plant.
5. Perform general carpentry, electrical and painting tasks with scope of abilities and training.
6. Basic cleaning, sweeping, mopping and janitorial of arena dressing room washrooms, hallways, stands and staircases.
7. Ensure facilities are locked and secured when not in use.
8. Communicate in a positive manner with the public and other employees.
9. The Arena Operator is expected to perform duties, within their capabilities, all reasonable requests or assignments as directed by management.
