The YWCA Regina is a non-profit organization that exists to support and empower women, children and youth in addressing their diverse needs in the realization of their full potential.
The YWCA is seeking applications for a Resident Support Worker for My Aunt's Place, an emergency housing facility for homeless women and their children. This 6 month term position is for 29.5 hours per week from 4:00PM to midnight and includes 2 weekends a month.
Responsibilities include:
- Addressing individual client needs through support and advocacy;
- Performing crisis management and risk assessments as crisis situations arise;
- Assisting with daily shelter activities of meal preparation, answering the phone, office duties and cleaning;
- Providing guidance to residents in completing their daily chores.
Requirements:
- A demonstrated understanding of the complex issues related to homelessness, including addiction , mental wellness, poverty, trauma etc;
-Effective communication skills, problem-solving skills, ability to multi-task and ability to respond to incidents and needs as they arise;
-Demonstrated respect of children and families of various backgrounds;
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality always;
- Post secondary education in the social science field and /or 2+ years working with families who face barriers to a healthy life;
- First Aid/CPR accreditation;
- Clear criminal record check/vulnerable sector check;
-Valid Saskatchewan driver's license
