Description

OVERVIEW
SRC is seeking a Toxicologist to establish an aquatic toxicology facility and related services for a one year maternity leave.

ACCOUNTABILITIES
-Commission new aquatics facilities and equipment
-Implement new aquatic service offerings and toxicological tests to meet industry needs with a focus on establishing and validating services using existing standard methods
-Together with Quality Assurance Supervisor and other members of the Toxicology team, plan and implement procedures necessary to attain Canadian Association for Laboratory Accreditation
-Lead the development of policies and protocols related to animal care and obtain applicable certifications/accreditations as required by the scope of services to be offered
-Actively participate in routine laboratory activities and participate in the quality control and quality assurance aspects within the Toxicology lab
-Communicate and consult with clients as required to establish their aquatic project and testing needs ensuring SRC services meet or exceed their expectations

QUALIFICATIONS
-Master of Science Degree in Toxicology or Biology with a minimum of 3 years relevant work experience in an aquatic laboratory and/or research setting, or equivalent combination of education and experience
-Knowledge/expertise related to aquatic facilities and equipment is an asset
-Experience in administering and managing procedures to ensure quality control and quality assurance an asset

SKILLS
-Oral and written communication skills to deliver quality work in a team environment
-Leadership and organizational skills to provide adequate support for laboratory activities
-Must be self-motivated and take initiative in order to reach project goals
-Analytical and problem solving skills and proficient with Microsoft Office
