Description

Job Summary:
THE PSYCHOLOGIST IN THIS POSITION WILL PROVIDE FORENSIC AND CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGICAL SERVICES TO THE YOUTH JUSTICE COURT AND TO YOUNG PERSONS SENTENCED UNDER THE YOUTH CRIMINAL JUSTICE ACT. THESE SERVICES WILL INCLUDE FORENSIC ASSESSMENTS, DIAGNOSIS, TREATMENT PLANNING, PROVISION OF TREATMENT, COORDINATION OF SERVICES WITH CORRECTIONS AND PUBLIC SAFETY, AND APPROPRIATE DOCUMENTATION.

Experience:
EXPERIENCE IN CLINICAL PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT AND EVALUATION. EXPERIENCE IN PROVIDING FORENSIC AND CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGICAL SERVICES TO AN ADOLESCENT POPULATION.

Qualifications:
PhD in Clinical Psychology
Registered or eligible for registration with the Saskatchewan College of Psychologists

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Ability to develop, evaluate and modify programming provided to clients
Ability to work independently and as a member of a multi-disciplinary team
Advanced communication skills
Knowledge of diverse health issues, culture and traditions

NOTE: This is a Provincial Posting and is open to all HSAS members within the bargaining unit as per Articles 21.02 and 21.04 of the HSAS Collective Bargaining Agreement. First preference will be given to employees of the Saskatoon Health Region and its affiliated agencies.

COMPREHENSIVE KNOWLEDGE OF LEGISLATION THAT AFFECTS THE TREATMENT OF YOUTH IN BOTH MENTAL HEALTH AND CORRECTIONAL SETTINGS. DEMONSTRATED KNOWLEDGE OF BEST PRACTICE OR EMPIRICALLY BASED MODELS OF ASSESSMENT, TREATMENT AND CASE MANAGEMENT OF YOUTH WHO COMMIT CRIMINAL ACTS. DEMONSTRATED KNOWLEDGE OF CRIMINOGENIC FACTORS IN JUVENILE OFFENDING, INCLUDING COMPREHENSIVE KNOWLEDGE OF RESEARCH REGARDING FACTORS, WHICH CONTRIBUTE TO VIOLENT BEHAVIOURS COMMITTED BY CHILDREN AND YOUTH. SOUND KNOWLEDGE OF NORMAL CHILD AND ADOLESCENT DEVELOPMENT AND PSYCHOPATHOLOGY.
