Description

Responsibilities
-Recruitment/ hiring processes including establishing quality networks for recruitment, promoting diversity in hiring, & the internal job posting system.
-Conduct the orientation process with new hires to communicate company policies & procedures (benefits, payroll, etc.) & maintain employee information in HR systems.
-Member of the management team that negotiates with the Union to develop a collective agreement.
-Share co-chair duties of the JHSC. Manage the safety committee to improve health & safety awareness in the plant & ensure all health and safety regulations are fully complied with to reduce the number of incidents & medical aids.
-Manage early & safe return to work program to control WCB & disability claim costs.
-Remain current with government legislation and provide assistance in the interpretation to deal with employee issues (harassment, discrimination, working environment, & OH&S) in the appropriate legal manner.
-Monitor the effectiveness of training & act as a resource for training needs making sure employees receive the necessary training to increase their knowledge & improve job performance, ensuring ISO 9000 certification.
-Help define local succession planning & career planning.
-Involved with the development, implementation, & accountability of personnel policies & procedures for the plant.
-Responsible for the administration of benefit plans & compensation.
-Act as a back-up for processing of the bi-weekly hourly payroll.
Qualifications:
-Excellent communication, organizational, leadership, coaching, influencing, & change management skills.
-Good business understanding, strategic thinking, & financial acumen.
-Independent problem solving abilities, adaptable, & continuous learner.
-College Diploma or University Degree in HR Management.
-CHRP designation.
-5 years of progressive HR experience, preferably in a unionized manufacturing environment
- Knowledge of Word & Excel
- Demonstrated Health & Safety & WCB claims management
