Simpson Seeds Inc., a family-owned, Moose Jaw-based company, has grown to become the largest privately-owned specialty crop exporter in the province. With four locations and over 30 years of experience in the buying, processing and selling of specialty grains, our growing company now employs over 100 people and exports to over 70 countries.
We are currently seeking applicants who are seeking long term employment.
We are recruiting for the position of SEED PLANT OPERATOR TRAINEE at our Kyle Plant. As a new trainee, you will be oriented in all aspects of receiving grain, grain grading, seed cleaning and shipping. Upon completion of the training period, you will advance to the position of Plant Operator.
Core Duties/Responsibilities:
You will be trained to assist in the cleaning of all grains. This includes meeting or exceeding quality standards, minor machine maintenance and making sure that the products are being cleaned as per specifications.
Check products for defects and ensure the output is meeting company standards.
Monitor and record production information.
The successful applicant will possess the following skills:
- A mechanical aptitude.
- Positive work ethic and ability to adapt to changing work conditions.
- Ability to follow instructions both oral and written.
- Availability to work shift work.
- A farm background is ideal, but not required.
As we are willing to train a qualified candidate, no experience in the field is required.
- Ability to work effectively with a team and, once trained, work independently with minimal supervision.
- Effective communication skills both verbally and in writing.
- Core computer skills.
