General Description:
The cook will plan, organize, and deliver a supper program at SIMFC ensuring that food is healthy, safe, affordable and appropriate. The successful candidate will deliver two meals per week until March 31, 2015, with the position likely to continue beyond this term. The target audience being served will be individuals experiencing homelessness and/or extreme poverty.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- To ensure the successful supper program.
- Menu planning to meet nutrition requirements of participants
- Ordering and receiving food and supplies
- Preparing meals using food safe practices
- Maintaining a clean and organized work area
- Relate well to participants sharing information on healthy eating as appropriate and possible
- Keep records and write reports
Qualifications:
Qualifications include:
- Grade twelve minimum
- Training and/or experience in nutrition and food services
- Experience working with youth, adults and aboriginal individuals and families
- Familiar with ordering food and supplies, record keeping and budget management
- Must have food safe certification
-Aboriginal candidates preferred, please self identify (First Nations, Metis, Inuit)
Working Conditions:
- Work hours occur in the afternoon and early evening, working with adults at the SIMFC, ability to work cooperatively with SIMFC staff, participants, ability to work with little supervision
- This job requires a police record check, drivers license preferable, food handlers certificate
Terms of Employment: Part Time, Term position from May 12, 2014 to March 31, 2015
- 10 hours per week (Typically Monday and Wednesday 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.)
Wage:
$17.00 hr
