Description

Seeking reliable conscious member. Will report to the Director of Operations & Chief and Council & Governance unit of Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development (INAC). Maintain Carry the Kettle Membership Lists (Adults, Minors, Elders and Non-Member List) manage application records, held votes and statistical reporting. Report births, marriages, divorces and deaths, name changes. Responsible for reviewing INAC reports, CIS cards. Ability to understand key programs pertaining to Registration & Membership, Elections, Will & Estates, Indian Government Support, Legislative Initiatives, & Community Development plans. Provide technical advice to the Director of Operations, Chief and Band Administration staff on changes that impact the community members & any applicable policies related to Band Membership.
Required to maintain a high degree of confidentiality and accountability to the CTK community and INAC.
Qualifications:
- Possess completed Grade 12 &/or Administrative Diploma/Certificate; knowledge of Tribal Councils, FSIN, & correspondence guidelines while also being well versed in First Nation government structure, protocols, policies & procedures; sound judgment, initiative and discretion to determine a course of action when dealing with requests or when handling sensitive & confidential information; good understanding of First Nations cultures, traditions, understanding of Chief & Council roles & responsibilities, and work well with Chief, Council, Band Staff and community; analytical thinking; conflict management skills; planning, organizing & monitoring skills;
- Have capability & willingness to understand legislative knowledge of Indian Act, Estate Regulations, Indian Band Regulations, Indian Band Council Procedures Regulations, Indian Referendum Regulations, Privacy & Access to Information Act;
- Willingness to attend required training;
- Must be willing to travel.
