Simpson Seeds Inc., a family-owned, Moose Jaw-based company, has grown to become the largest privately-owned specialty crop processor and exporter in the province. With four locations and over 30 years of experience in the buying, processing and selling of specialty grains, our growing company now employs close to 100 and exports to over 70 countries.
We are currently recruiting for the position of Administrative Assistant/Grain Technician for our Kyle location. Working with the Plant Manager and the Kyle Operators, the incumbent is responsible for providing front-line customer service and organization support for the administrative office. As well, this individual will be trained in all aspects of the grading and dockage process for incoming grains. This includes sending samples for certification, monitoring grain inventory on hand and assisting with grain coordination and deliveries. Our core business hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday to Friday.
The successful applicant will possess the following skills:
- Grade 12 coupled with experience in providing administrative support.
- Positive work ethic and the ability to adapt to changing work conditions.
- Ability to follow instructions both oral and written.
- Superior attention to detail and excellent organization skills.
- Ability to provide superior customer service to all customers.
- Ability to work as a team and to work independently if required.
- Superior communication skills, both interpersonal and in writing.
- Proven office skills and an intermediate working knowledge of MS Office products Word, Excel and Outlook
- An ability to work in a dusty work environment.
- Industry-related experience with a proven knowledge of grain products and quality assessments is ideal, but willing to train the right candidate.
- A farming background is a definite asset.
- A valid drivers license is required.
