This is a one year term full-time position with the Saskatoon Branch of the Western Development Museum. Under the general direction of the Education/Public Programs Coordinator, in consultation with the Museum Branch Manager and appropriate Curatorial Centre Staff, the Education/Public Programming Assistant will be responsible for assisting in developing, implementing and administering programs and materials for school, public and volunteer programs. The activities will also be carried out in such a manner as to achieve maximum efficiency and patron satisfaction within the museum context.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
-Planning and administration/supervision of weekend educational programming.
-Planning and coordination of special events such as Christmas programming for schools and the public and Halloween programs for the public.
-Assist in the coordination of volunteers and other related activities.
-Book tour groups and provide information on group tours.
-Others duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
-Graduation from a recognized university, preferably in education/history.
-Demonstrate an interest in Museums, heritage and culture.
-Computer knowledge.
-Ability to plan, organize and administer appropriate school and public programs.
-Ability to produce creative and innovative program, display and special event ideas.
-Ability to work cooperatively and effectively with other staff, volunteers and patrons.
-Advanced oral and written communication skills.
-Exceptional skills to initiate, create, develop, coordinate and complete all aspects of programming activities either by working alone or with others.
-Valid drivers license.
