Lac La Ronge Indian Band Health Services Department is inviting applications for 1 (one) Permanent Full Time, Community Development Worker to assist in the Prevention & Recovery Program in the community of Grandmother's Bay. S/he will be reporting to the Prevention & Recovery Coordinator. This position requires living a healthy lifestyle and being familiar with Woodland Cree culture. Being outgoing, creative and getting community members involved in program planning and activities.
Duties:
- Be a liaison between community members and front line workers;
- Identify community member?s strengths and skills to teach culturally relevant materials to other community members;
- Willingness to train as a First Responder;
- Organize a Youth Council to determine needs of youth in the community;
- Assist with Annual Community Culture Gatherings to promote traditional values and promote community development;
- Host regular community meetings and conduct home visits;
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor or designate;
Qualifications:
- Minimum Grade 10 or GED Certificate;
- Enjoys working with youth and Elders; Must live in the community and have a healthy lifestyle;
- Excellent verbal, written communication and public relations skills;
- Ability to speak/understand Cree; knowledge of the Woodland Cree Culture is an asset;
- Must have a Class 5 Drivers license;
- Security Clearance: Current Criminal Record Clearance/Child Abuse Record Check and Driver's Abstract required upon hire;
