Qualifications: Masters degree, or equivalent, in Occupational Therapy; Eligible for registration with SK Society of Occupational Therapists; A valid driver's license & willingness to travel; Motivation to work both independently & as a part of a team; Superior interpersonal, communication, & assessment skills.
Duties:
-Provides assessment of student's ability to function in the educational environment. This may include assessment of skills and issues related to hand function, oral motor function, visual motor and perceptual skills, seating & positioning, organizational skills, sensory awareness & processing, self-care & prevocational/vocational skills;
-Participates in collaborative program planning;
-Consults with classroom teachers, educational assistants, counsellors & parents;
-Works with classroom teachers to adapt the classroom environment and/or learning materials to facilitate successful participation;
-Provides recommendations for assistive technology & equipment;
-Provides demonstrations & training for teachers, educational assistants & parents to implement recommendations;
-Monitors implementation of recommendations & provides feedback to school personnel, students & family;
-Provides in-service for school personnel on specifics, & whenever possible, with other members of the Student Services professional;
-Assist with transition planning, with particular emphasis on transition from secondary into adult life; &
-Provide staff development and training and assist with program monitoring & evaluation.
