Peepeekisis Health requires an energetic, motivated Mental Health Therapist responsible for planning, developing, implementing and evaluating the delivery of the program's services to community members.
DUTIES:
- Responsible for both intervention and prevention services
- Provide counseling/crisis intervention services to individuals, couples, students and families
- Make referrals to other affiliated agencies when appropriate
- Participate in case management sessions with other staff, and other professionals involved with client
- Maintain confidential records to all client interactions
- Provide aftercare counseling to clients who have participated in treatment programs
- Provide counseling to employees who may become part of our Employee Assistance Program
- Willing to work non-standard hours
- Yearly and five year work plans, along with reporting to FNIHB on these work plans
- Facilitate and plan on-going workshops for community members
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Masters in Social Work counseling/psychology, and a member in good standing with a Professional Association
- Minimum three (3) years experience in counseling
- An understanding of the particular issues encountered by First Nations people
- Knowledge in all areas of addictions, family violence, residential school survivors and abuse issues
- Definite asset to have a good understanding of the First Nation culture
- Must submit a criminal records check with resume
- Have liability insurance ($1million minimum)
- Must have valid driver's license and reliable vehicle
