Reporting to the Manager, Policy, Program Development and Readiness, this position is responsible for extraction and analysis of AgriStability data and assessing the accuracy and validity of economic values used by the AgriStability program.
- Work with the Ministry staff to extract and analyze historical AgriStability data
- Provide analysis and recommendations for risk tolerance tests used in processing and verifying completed AgriStability forms
- Develop consistent and standardized methods of collecting and reporting calculated information
- Prepare reports and/or related documentation for Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada
- Validate commodity fair market values (FMV) and benchmark per unit (BPU) calculations used by the AgriStability program
- Work with industry specialists and representatives to determine the scope of costs incurred and the degree to which costs and expenses are representative of the industry
Qualifications include a University Degree specializing in Economics, Agriculture, or Commerce, with related experience in the area of economic and econometric research. Consideration may also be given to those with an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Excellent knowledge of data mining
- Excellent knowledge of and experience using computer applications and databases, specifically Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook and other statistical and associated software
- Strong problem solving skills with the ability to recognize and evaluate the implications and problems involved in integrating findings of studies into operational programs
- Strong written and verbal communication, as well as interpersonal and public relations skills
- Strong organizational and documentation skills
- Good general knowledge of agriculture and the costs and revenues that may be experienced by the industry
