The MLTC Health & Social Development Department is seeking a highly motivated individual to fill a term position ending March 31, 2015 as the Positive Wellness Coordinator.
The successful applicant will have the opportunity to assess community needs and barriers with respect to HIV prevention and care. The successful candidate will work with the nine (9) ML First Nations to develop an HIV/AIDS Strategy that is culturally appropriate and specific to the ML First Nations.
Working as part of the MLTC Health & Social Development team, the Positive Wellness Coordinator will build partnerships and provide community education about HIV/AIDS to build community capacity. The Coordinator will also develop and distribute resource materials about HIV/AIDS and evaluate program effectiveness.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Relevant post-secondary education, preferably in the health, education or human services sectors.
- Relevant experience that reflects working with HIV/AIDS within the First Nations in community health and community development.
- Knowledge of current trends, issues and practices regarding HIV/AIDS and sexual health in First Nations communities; knowledge of the `HIV Strategy for Saskatchewan 2010-2013?.
- Experience developing program plans and strategies.
- Excellent communication, problem solving, time management, and organizational skills.
- Able to work independently and within a team environment.
