Description

Duties

- Work with local and regional organizations to
develop and attract new events to be hosted in the
Battlefords, or to expand existing ones

- Produce and distribute promotional materials fo
the attraction of tourists and events

-Maintain an online database of event and meeting
facilities, tourist attractions, and amenities

- Assist local organizations with event planning,
hosting, and sponsorship

- Identify and pursue tourism and event marketing
campaign opportunities and collect visitor data

- Respond to information requests related to
tourism and events in the Battlefords

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES

- Completion of post-secondary education in
Marketing, Commerce, or Communications.  
Applicants with an equivalent combination of
education and experience will be considered

- Experience in event planning and/or tourism
marketing is a strong asset

- Excellent communication skills are critical to
the position.  The successful applicant must be
able to interact with tourists, residents, and
tourism operators in a friendly, outgoing, and
positive manner

- Good organizational skills combined with
knowledge of personal data devices

- Ability to be a self-starter and self-organizer.  
The successful applicant will be required to
complete assigned tasks and objectives with
minimal supervision.

- Ability to display a positive image for the
Battlefords and area
