Description

Job Description:
Performs all related procedures which apply to end
labelling and product rejection.  Performs
procedures required for inventory management,
product withdrawal and inventory retrieval, blood
product issuing and packaging blood products for
transportation.
Processes donor and patient samples for shipment
to testing laboratory following operating
procedures.
Determines unsuitable units prior to release.
Release blood products that are suitable for
transfusion into released inventory.
Receive and process blood product orders from
hospital, health centres and other Blood Centres
as required.
Packs blood components and fractionation for
shipment to hospitals, health centres and other
Centres as required.
Performs Shift Coordinator activities in the
Production Laboratory.
Performs product withdrawal and inventory
retrieval under the supervision of Charge
Technologist, Technologist IIB or Production
Manager.
Responds to alarms for the blood component storage
units.

Required Skills:
Community college diploma and completed internship
in Medical Laboratory Technology
Registration or eligibility for registration with
the Canadian Society of Laboratory Technologists.
Licensed or eligible for licensing by the
Saskatchewan Society of Medical Technologists.
Advanced Registered Technologist (ART) or
equivalent designation is preferred.
Three years of relevant laboratory experience in
the related discipline is required.
The ability to generalize and conceptualize ideas
and information and to utilize and adapt technical
processes on the basis of a broad understanding of
principles, practices and procedures.

This is a temporary part-time position, with an
end date of 2015-01-23. Incumbent will be working
45 hours biweekly based on a 0.6 FTE. Hours will
vary and are flexible as assigned.
