Summer Student Position - Must be returning to
full-time studies in the Fall
Duties/Responsibilities: Aids with the day-to-day
operations, educational activities, programs,
projects and special events of the Museum. Duties
can include, but are not limited to:
1)Assisting with the day-to-day operations, tours,
educational activities, programs, projects and
special events of the Museum.
2)Answering emails and the phones, taking bookings
and serving as a public liaison.
3)Answering visitor and public inquiries.
4)General cleaning and maintenance of the
artifacts, Museum and grounds.
5)Prepare research materials and hands-on
activities for educational tours and events.
7)Prepare and distribute publicity for exhibits,
programs and special events.
8)Represent the Museum at key functions and
events; this may include speaking to the media and
the public about the Museum and its programming.
9)Assisting with the digitization of the Museums
collection including storing, photographing, and
updating forms, when time allows.
Qualifications:
Required:
1)Good written and verbal communication skills.
2)Comfortable working with the public of all ages
and backgrounds.
3)Organized and detail-orientated with the ability
to follow established filing systems.
4)Proficient with computers and digital cameras.
5)Knowledge of Canadian and/or Saskatchewan
history.
6)Ability to perform physical tasks.
7)Able to work independently.
8)Willing to perform repetitive tasks.
Desired:
1)Prior experience working with children.
2)Experience performing accurate research.
3)Experience with event planning and marketing.
4)Post-Secondary courses completed in one or more
of the following areas: Museum Studies, Museum
Education, Curatorial Studies, History, Art
History, Archaeology, Anthropology, Library
Sciences, Marketing, Business, Secretarial
Studies, Visual Arts and/or related field.
