General Accountability
The VP Human Resources primary purpose is to guide the development and implementation of all human resource strategies and practices at SIIIT. The VP leads the operation of progressive human resource programs and services that are aligned with the Institutions vision and mandate. The division is responsible to define and promote the principles of leading HR practices and the creation and maintenance of collaborative employee relationships. In addition the VP Human Resources leads all recruitment and retention practices, workforce planning, compensation and benefits, organizational development, performance feedback and policy review and development.
As a member of SIITs Executive, this position serves in a leadership role among a team of senior administrative and academic professionals. The incumbent ensures internal administrative services including policy and process development are aligned to support the academic model and the general operating requirements of the institution. The VP will also provide strategic advice to the Institutions senior leadership regarding human resource matters.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS and EXPERIENCE
A degree or post graduate degree in Commerce or a related field of study is required. A minimum of seven years of human resource experience is required. For success in this position senior level strategic human resource experience is necessary including the leadership of direct reports. A demonstrated knowledge of First Nations Culture and current issues is also required. A CHRP designation and experience in a post-secondary institution are considered as assets.
