CUPE Job Posting - .8(32 hours/week) FTE Facility Operator - Burstall School - Comp. # 1538
The Chinook School Division is seeking a .8 FTE Facility Operator for Burstall School. The Facility Operator is directly responsible to the Principal of the school and works in close cooperation with the Supervisor of Facilities. The Facility Operator is responsible for the plant operations, general maintenance, and cleaning of the school accordance with established standards.  
Start date: July 2, 2014
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
-Sweeping and mopping floors daily or more often if required;
-Dusting all furniture and flat surfaces; polishing as required;
-Cleaning and disinfecting washrooms and shower rooms daily or more often if required;
-Emptying garbage;
-Scrubbing, waxing, spraying floors to ensure a good finish and attractive appearance at all times;
-Washing walls, ceilings, lights, windows, furniture, and doors;
-Guardian of the school flag;
-Refinishing gym floors;
-Cleaning chalkboards, railings, and brushes;
-Cleaning snow and debris from sidewalks; ensuring that traveled surfaces are slip resistant;
-Mowing lawns, weeding, raking leaves, picking up garbage and debris;
-Watering lawns on a regular basis;
-Requisitioning cleaning supplies; and
-Other duties as assigned.

Preferences will be given to applicants who:
-Have a mechanical aptitude;
-Have a knowledge of building systems;
-Have knowledge of care taking procedures and equipment;
-Have good written and oral skills;
-Demonstrate diligence, strong work ethic, and pride in workmanship;
-Demonstrate an interest in students and in education;
-Have the ability to work as a member of an interdisciplinary team;
-Display energy, initiative, good physical conditioning, and enthusiasm;
-Maintain a positive attitude, tact, and diplomacy when dealing with students, staff, parents, the general public and school division personnel; and  
-Maintain confidentiality and use discretion in all instances
