Description

The Visitor Services Counsellor/Tourism Ambassador
position is accountable to the Visitor Services
Coordinator. This is a FT position working 40
hrs/week for 16 weeks; students applying must be
enrolled for return to school in the Fall.

It is your duty as a Tourism Ambassador to promote
our city to visitors and residents alike,
encourage return visits and lengthen stays. You
must present an overall positive image of the
community at the Information Centre and while out
in the community!

Specific Duties of the position include:
Opening the Visitor Centre, daily grounds &
facility clean up, assist with inquiries both in
person and over the telephone more specifically
regarding accommodations/events/attractions/member
and non-member info., perform assigned summer
projects, search for events, attend and assist
with local events, perform errands and deliveries,
and assist with the daily operations of the
Visitor Centre and Gift Shop.

Requirements/Competencies:
Compliance with policies such as dress code and
OHS, excellent customer service skills, strong
communications skills and the ability to
effectively and tactfully deal with the public,
must possess a positive outgoing personality to
assist in engaging the public, ability to multi-
task and work collaboratively with your team,
reliability, ability to work weekends and perform
some light lifting, and must possess a valid
driver's licence for min. travel within the city.

Additional Assets:
Knowledge of a second language, Service Best/First
Aid CPR/AED Training, experience with special
events, and any unique skills such as creative
writing, performing, etc.
