Duties include, but are not limited to:
-Taking a lead in the development of a conceptual
estimate/design-build
-Soliciting, sourcing, and building relationships
with subcontractors, suppliers, and manufacturers
-Developing and understanding detailed
construction cost estimates and budget reports
-Participating in client meetings, leading the
presentation of the estimate/proposal, reviewing
project plans, and commenting on the possible cost
savings measures, special solicitation efforts,
special requirements (protection, hoists,
facilities, etc.), and potential construction
problems
-Making, interpreting, and reviewing technical
drawings and detailed specifications
-Ensuring that all bid forms and documents are
completed, distributed, executed, and maintained
-Performing all pricing or assigning pricing
duties
-Setting up general expense and construction
schedules
-Reviewing labor costs and production
Qualifications
Education:
Post-Secondary technical training (Civil Tech,
Engineering, etc.) with a minimum 5 years of
construction estimating experience; preferably an
engineering degree with 7-10 years of experience
in residential construction.
Skills:
-Fosters strong working relationships with diverse
groups, including co-workers, clients, and other
professionals
-Demonstrated mathematical, analytical, and
statistical knowledge
-Comprehensive knowledge of residential
construction industry practices, estimating,
applicable regulations, and building codes
-Strong written and verbal communication skills
-Proven ability to successfully manage heavy
workloads with multiple priorities
-Ability to work with a high degree of
independence and minimal supervision
Assets:
-Advanced knowledge of OHS best practices and LEED
Building Construction
-Advanced skills in Microsoft Office: Project,
Excel, and Word
-Familiarity with SAGE Timberline Estimating and
Job Costing software
