The Department of Religion and Culture, College of Arts and Science, University of Saskatchewan, invites applications for a one year term appointment at the rank of Instructor (current base salary of $56,055) with primary specialization in the area of Japanese Linguistics and Japanese language teaching, commencing as soon as the position can be filled in, between 1 July and 1 September, 2014. The successful candidate should have significant graduate level training in Japanese language teaching and Linguistics. Demonstrated excellence in teaching will be preferred. Competence in Applied Linguistics, and an interest in collaborative interdisciplinary teaching and research are assets.
The responsibilities of the position include teaching 15 cu, five three credit unit classes per academic year. Classes to be taught may include JPNS (Japanese) 113.3 Introductory Japanese I, JPNS 117.3 Introductory Japanese II, JPNS 233.3 Popular Culture and Cinema in Japan, and upper level classes in Japanese Studies and Linguistics in the area of the candidates specialization or research interest.
