AMEC's Mining & Metals Business Unit currently has an exciting opportunity available for a Senior Mechanical Engineer in the Saskatoon office. Reporting to the Manager, Mechanical Engineering and working alongside other team members locally, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to provide support for a wide variety of project and site functions. Responsibilities:
Designing systems related to mining, potash, mineral and chemical processing; covering areas such as materials handling systems, fluid transfer systems, heat exchangers and other related industrial process equipment
Designing of non-process equipment such as cranes, elevators, indexers, plus all ancillaries to equipment (drives, hydraulic systems, bearings, fasteners)
Reviewing specifications, contract documents and vendor submittals/drawings
Reviewing project documents prior to issue for scope and presentation, including checking for technical accuracy
Technical resource for the team
Developing and maintaining positive, sustainable client relationships
Coordinating and working with project team members
Qualifications:
Undergraduate or Graduate degree in Mechanical Engineering
Minimum 15 years of related experience, with a minimum of 7 years focusing on mining projects
High degree of familiarity with design codes, equipment and material selection and technical specification development
Knowledge of fabrication is an asset
Ability to register as a Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) in the Province of Saskatchewan
Ability to work efficiently and demonstrate effective organizational skills
