POSITION SUMMARY:

In a unionized environment, the Maintenance Department at Maple Leaf Consumer Foods operates with a concept of a team environment with production to ensure plant efficiencies.

Prime function of this department is to keep the Plants uptime to and above industry benchmark, and thus, shift work, overtime, weekend work and emergency call-ins are part of this role.   Maple Leaf Foods conducts a comprehensive wage survey each year to ensure our rates are competitive.
                                
REQUIRED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
-Read and interpret drawings, circuit diagrams and electrical code specifications to determine wiring layouts for new or existing installations
-Install, replace and repair lighting fixtures and electrical control and distribution equipment, such as switches, relays and circuit breaker panels
-Troubleshoot and isolate faults in electrical and electronic systems and remove and replace faulty components
-Identify the problem from the equipment by doing root cause analysis, 5WIH, 5WHY, fishbone diagram, and kaizens
-Connect electrical power to audio and visual communication equipment, signalling devices and heating and cooling systems
-Conduct preventive maintenance programs and keep records
-Typical facilities as load centres, power panels, generators, transformers, heaters, CNC

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:
1-3 years of trade related experience, food experience would be considered a plus
Journeyman Electrican certificate required
Exposure to GMP, HACCP, OH&S and enviornmental procedures pertaining to a food manufacturing facility
