The Water Treatment Plant Operator will be responsible in operating the 1320m3/day Reverse Osmosis water facility and associated storage and distribution system.
Responsible for the proper operation of the water production and distribution system
Conduct daily routine jobs and check lists
Monitor plant operating parameters (flow meters and pressure gauges) to ensure adequate and properly treated water
Carry out laboratory testing and evaluation of water quality
Calibrate laboratory testing equipment as required
Enter operational data into Daily Operations Log
Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance
Backwash greensand filters
Prepare operational reports
Inspects water storage area, chemical pumps and associated piping on a daily basis for signs of leakage
Keep proper records of operation and maintenance
Bring to the notice of the manager of any improper water treatment or equipment malfunction and take corrective action
Oversee shock chlorination disinfection procedures for installation of new water main and storage facilities
Be available on-call 24/7 to respond to any system failures
Qualifications:
Class 2 Water Certification (or equivalent)
Fluent in spoken and written English.
Valid Driving License
Minimum of three years of water treatment experience

- Transport and mix chemicals, and operate equipment used to unload chemicals
- Respond to customer complaints on water quality problems
- Read recording instruments to measure output and consumption levels, bacterial content, chlorine and fluoride levels
- Perform maintenance and repairs to plant machinery or equipment
- Patrol plant to check pumps, motors, filters, chlorinators and other plant equipment
- Operate and monitor computerized control systems and related equipment to regulate the treatment and distribution of water
- Operate and monitor computerized control systems and related equipment to regulate the flow of sewage and to treat and dispose of sewage and wastes
- Monitor and inspect plant equipment and systems to detect equipment malfunctioning and to ensure plant systems are operating normally
- Monitor and read recording instruments to detect equipment malfunctions and ensure plant systems and equipment are operating within prescribed limits
- Make adjustments to plant equipment and systems
- Complete and maintain plant logs and reports
- Collect and test water samples for chemical and bacterial content
- Analyze test results and instrument readings
