The La Ronge & Area Cognitive Disabilities Strategy has an exciting opportunity for a motivated, self-starting individual with knowledge of cognitive disabilities. The consultant enhances the knowledge and skills of families and service providers interacting with people with significant behavioral and developmental challenges.
The consultant: Works directly with people with cognitive disabilities and those that support them Designs behavioral support strategies for specific individuals and provides guidance, support and direction for program implementation and evaluation Provides specialized training to family members, care givers and service providers regarding comprehensive support strategies Designs, initiates, and conducts in-service training on cognitive disabilities, behavior support strategies and effective intervention planning Provides consultation services to intake and planning teams regarding strategies to support children, youth and adults with cognitive disabilities Provides on-site consultation and follow-up for specific individuals. Sites may include the home, employment setting or school Works with and supports teams developed to support individuals and their personal plans
Necessary knowledge, skills and abilities would typically have been obtained through completion of a university degree in the human service delivery field, complemented by five years of related program work. Candidates with a suitable combination of education and work experience may also be considered. Ongoing professional development is available.
