This position is full time, located initially at the Saskatoon head office. There may be a requirement to work for specified periods at community locations based on program need and the individual may be deployed to these locations to provide cover off services. The individual we are seeking possesses an ability to work from both a community development/support framework perspective and a prevention perspective.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform effective child protection and family support services including
Work with the CFS team to implement the principle It takes a community to raise a child.
Work with other community service providers to integrate and coordinate services and to develop new program responses.
QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of the FSIN Indian Child Welfare and Family Support Act and The Child and Family Services Act;
Knowledge of the political, social and economic objectives of the Saskatoon Tribal Council;
An understanding of the dynamics of First Nations family systems;
Knowledge of case management and crisis intervention procedures;
Knowledge of child protection and children in care services;
Knowledge of protocols with related agencies;
Knowledge of risk assessments and family assessment;
Effective problem solving, decision making, interpersonal and communication skills;
Demonstrated ability to be a positive role model;
Ability to work in a calm and confident manner to coordinate different viewpoints in determining the best interest of the child;
Willingness to work a flexible schedule of hours and must be willing to accept a rotation on the unscheduled/standby/call back schedule; and
Must be eligible to register with the Saskatchewan Association of Social Workers.
