Description

Responsible for the children in all aspects related to the development of their learning skills, hygiene, health, welfare and safety. Under the supervision of the Daycare Director, the Childcare worker will plan and apply a well-balanced program of activities for the age group assigned to him/her in accordance with the centre's philosophy and policies and in compliance with the Touchwood Agency Tribal Council Childcare Regulations and Policies.

Qualifications:
- Orientation to Child Care certificate and/or Certificate in Early Childhood Education or Equivalent
- Experience working with children
- Valid Class 5 driver's license
- Possess a valid First Aid and CPR Certificate
- Possess a Safe Food Handling Certificate
- Possess a WHMIS Certificate
- Current Police Enhancement Check (CPIC)
- Bi-yearly Child Abuse Record Check as needed
- Immunizations and staff medical must be completed prior to commencing employment

Responsibilities:

- Maintains constant and consistent supervision of children during indoor and outdoor play periods
- Plans, organizes and leads daily activities designed to stimulate intellectual, physical and emotional growth of children encouraging cooperation and participation
- Directs/assists children with their everyday needs, in the development of proper consumption of proper nutrition, resting and sanitary habits
- Cleans, sanitizes the centre, cook meals and prepares snacks according to the weekly time schedule
- Encourages open communication with the parents concerning the needs, progress or problems of their children
- Follows good safety and hygiene practices
- Participates in training opportunties that may arise
- Transport children as required
- Performs other related tasks that may be assigned
