Description

THE POSITION
Under the general supervision of the STC Health Centre on 20th Nurse Coordinator and with Clinical Supervision from the STC Community Addictions Program Coordinator, the Gambling Addictions Counsellor will promote the mental, emotional, and social health and well-being of clients and their families.  This will be done through counselling, treatment, referral, education, advocacy, community action, program leadership and connecting clients to appropriate cultural services and resources.

Note: MUST have Gambling Addiction Certificate

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
-  Provide comprehensive gambling addiction assessments;
-  Provide crisis and on-going counselling to clientele;
-  Assist clients to address emotional, psychological and relationship difficulties utilizing a range of counselling methods and models;
-  Work in collaboration with other team members to determine service plans for clients;
-  Refer clients to appropriate community agencies and services for assistance as necessary to improve personal, social and vocational functioning and for practical help;
-  Advocate on clients behalf as appropriate and necessary;
-  Participate in project development, assessing clients population needs and developing new harm reduction strategies;
-  Educate client family members in gambling addictions;
-  Participate in health promotion projects and activities;
-  Maintain records and statistics in accordance with project evaluation and funding agreement standards;
